Ten Thumbs Up Alis deserved that kiss when Sean initiated it unasked she cemented the relationship.

It's odd, but it does seem more of a relationship now that they have kissed - Even though Sean had already given Alis a good ol' ride on the vibrator. :D

"Captain, her nipples are at maximum stimulation!"
"Good! Set phasers to 'stunning' and prepare for boarding action!"
"Aye aye, Captain!"

The central panel depicting the kiss is beautiful; and it's a mark of your skill as a storyteller that it's imbued with such emotional force.

PS please don't let anything bad happen to them.

I just finished binge re-reading this to get myself caught back up, and I can't help but fixate on what I feel is one of the most powerful moments so far, the part where Alis mentions she was caught in the "Denver Melt"

from your other stories, I know that a "melt" is what you get with a nanoweapon attack, a 'grey goo' scenario. What I'm curious about is what geopolitical situation would lead to anyone melting a city, and what could have led to the flooding that looks like someone melted the polar ice caps.

You create these vivid post apocalyptic settings for your stories to play out in, and i'm dead curious about the setting info.

I believe a "Denver Melt" is actually a type of sandwich, and nothing bad has ever happened or will ever happen.

I like how View does it. A lot of SF necessitates a certain type of character to report on the world, or somebody to have everything explained to, and well. Teenagers likely wouldn't be talking geopolitical history, maybe only so far as it pertains to Sean's career choices. I admit, I'm curious too, but I also like the slow leak of information as it becomes relevant. Mystery, in a way, leaves fewer inconsistencies or gaps. :)

Exactly right, and well said besides.

The melt was ironically the solution to the wmd attack. Basically, a bioweapon was released in Denver, which could devastate everything in its path in a short amount of time. The solution, and really the only way to defeat the bioweapon, was to release a silicon based bacteria called XVT, which systematically ripped carbon atoms out of any organic material, thus killing it. It did its job relentlessly, so any organic matter was affected, and whatever was left after the carbon atoms were ripped out effectively began to decay rapidly, hence the term 'melting'.

You sure read up!

Hm... How exactly are those "silicon based bacteria" not exactly "a bioweapon ..., which could devastate everything in its path in a short amount of time"?

I get the concept, a firebreak of sorts, but why would that kind of bacteria be any easier to control?
view edit delete reply

XVT doesn't breed, so it's a contained weapon you can use as a firebreak. The bioweapon breeds and spreads very, very rapidly.
TeeKay edit delete reply
TeeKay
Oh I see... Then it could be just deployed where and as needed (albeit carefully).
Sheela edit delete reply
Sheela
Also, they had developed a bacteria to clean up XVT, which would limit it's spread even more.

Oh gods, a coy domme. I hate coy dommes. They're hard to please even after you pleased them.

Alis has her work cut out for her.

Hm... view, did you leave the red out of Alis' speech on purpose? :P

Is it just that Sean juice is the world's greatest remedy for a rough throat? :D
