That last panel is ominous...

View, you're reminding me of those old "tragic consequences" PSAs they used to show before movies in the 1950's.

This comic could affect your children... or YOUR children... or YOURS.

Can't we have one comic without horrible tragedy?
Bellar edit delete reply
Bellar
Depending on what you count as horrible tragedy, View may well be the most kindhearted webcomic author -- or pioneering new tragedies with each series.

The second option? We all remember the /spoiler/ in /spoiler/ /one really long spoiler (go read nmtg if you haven't and do yourself a favor)/ and that was the saddest shit ever. I cried for a week goddamn view quit killing me.

Posting from the afterlife!

I went back and reread original comment, reminded me of the mst3k "last clear chance"........ which was a 50s PSA. Anyone else ever see that?

Drugs are bad though

Drugs are drugs. They are neutral.

Illicit use, however...

I will admit that I am currently "high" on prescription drugs for chronic pain. And in general, I don't like it.

I was on Tramadol for two years after a spinal injury. It was like being slightly drunk at work every single day.

Fun for about half a day, then I realised I had to make constant notes about what I was doing, or I'd forget.

Tramadol is in my mix, but not where the problem is for me. I have fibromyalgia, so I have a host of drugs to help desensitize the pain center of the brain. Amitriptaline makes it hard to pee (weird), gabapentin seems to not have any side effects, but Cymbalta just sets me weird. Slow reactions, difficulty reading and seeing the content, and just drunkenness. Can't drive, slow in anything else.

The SCUBA diver in me is listing the ways that diving on drugs is a colossally bad idea.

The rest of me wants to get high and scrub dive.

Then your avatar is suitable.
Jinmen edit delete reply
I don't know much about scuba. Is there something especially bad about scuba diving while high or is it more or less tantamount to drunk driving/any other activity while impaired?
view edit delete reply

In SCUBA, it's very easy to fuck things up. I'd say it's more like motorcycling while drunk, rather than driving.

All I can think about is them being too high to make it back to the boat, and Sean having to drag them tooth and nail back.

Sean does _Not_ look happy.

I can't help but feel that's Checkhov's joint we are seeing there :P

....you mean now that we've seen it someone has to take it off the wall?

(Everyone misuses Checkov's Gun.)
Sheela edit delete reply
Sheela
That's because it's such a nice gun!

I interpret Chekhov's Gun as "if something is mentioned prominently, it's important, because storytellers don't have time to talk about stuff that isn't important". Not necessarily literally about guns being taken off walls.

Yeah, what could go wrong? Apart from accidentally walking into a propellor or getting attacked by a shark. Or stumbling into a secret underwater base used by smugglers. Or aliens. Or smugglers who are aliens.

I promise, there are no aliens! That part is wrong.

What is the law's position on the matter in the country this is set in? Not that the characters seem to care much for the law considering the trespassing done before.
